MY LOVE OF TRAVEL IS HUGE but
SO IS MY LOVE FOR PORT MELBOURNE
and
MELBOURNE.
I love all the experiences that travel gives us.
Taking us out of our comfort zones.
Experiencing new places.
Eating different foods.
Meeting new people.
Taking away some of our luxuries (big one)
and of course:
Spending a lot of time at airports and sitting in cars, buses, and airplanes.
Generally being away from home challenges us in all sorts of ways
BUT
The memories and the highlights are experiences that you can not put a price on and will stay with you always.
As I put my facebook on at Perth airport yesterday, as I was killing time (a lot of time), some memories came up.
We have just come back today from Perth, Broome and the Kimberley for 17 days.
on this day 6 years ago we were on our 7 week European holiday in Monaco.
on this day 7 years ago we were in Darwin.
On this day 10 years ago we were in Mykonos as part of 3 weeks on the Greek Islands, Part of our 5-week holiday including Spain and England.
I feel so grateful.
As we pick up the car from the long-term carpark after midnight and we drive over the Westgate Bridge.
It doesn't matter Winter, Summer, Spring or Autumn, I look over our beautiful city and I say:
THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME.
Tonight, as the sun is going down, I walked down to the Esplanade before dinner and took a couple of shots of our Melbourne sunset.
I said to myself,
it is no Cable Beach or Bungle Bungles or Fitzroy Crossing but I still love it.
I love this quote:
YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE, BUT IF YOU DO IT RIGHT,
ONCE IS ENOUGH.
May West.
