I am exciting to be participating in the run for the kids this year. Unfortunately the run was cancelled from last year and my entrant to the event has been carried over to this year.
YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS???
THE BIG DAY IS SUNDAY 3RD APRIL, 2022. 11 weeks away.
I am starting to train for it. I have to really push myself to run outside. Treadmill running is a lot easier before or after my training. I must admit it is all about time management.
BUT....
NOT EXCUSES...
I HAVE TO GET MOTIVATED.
It will be 3 years since I have completed this event. In 2020 I was away in Western Australia and last year it was cancelled due to Covid.
2019 was the last time I have completed the Run for the kids.
Run 4 the kids is a fantastic event and is the 2nd largest event in Melbourne. The money that it raises goes to The Royal Children's hospital.
The Run for the kids started back in 2006 and has raised over $18.6 million for the hospital.
The course really pushes me and the long course is 14.8km.
I have participated in many times since it began.
I have downloaded the training schedule for the run this time and I am going to follow it to motivate myself. I really need it.....
The training schedule started this week and is for 11 weeks. Each week it increases intensities and distances to get you physically and mentally prepared for the big day.
I will be blogging my progress and making sure that I am accountable for following the program.
Here are a couple of great quotes that will help me get inspired.
"IF IT DOESN'T CHALLENGE YOU
IT WON'T CHANGE YOU.
and
"STRENGTH GROWS IN THE MOMENTS
WHEN YOU THINK YOU CAN'T GO ON
BUT
YOU KEEP GOING ANYWAY."
